This fall, I wanted something bright for our mantel, so I made a wheat wreath dyed in bright colors.

It is fun and a great way to welcome guests all season long. The bright wheat works for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and to adorn your door all fall long.

The colorful wheat also looks cute tied onto little favor bags or snack bags for guests. A sweet way I updated our fall decor to include a bit of foraged happy color.

Wheat Wreath DIY Instructions

1. Lay the wheat out on a canvas or drop cloth. Spray the wheat with bright colors. Let it dry, flip it over, and spray the other side.

2. Paint your wreath form to match the colors you chose. Let it dry.

3. Trim any pieces of wheat that did not get enough color.

4. Gather small bunches of wheat and wrap each bunch with a clear rubber band. The bands hold tight and do not show through the wheat.

Make about 15 bunches in two colors.

5. Use pushpins to attach each bunch to the wreath form.

Pin them at a slight angle so the wheat covers the frame but still looks fun and fluffy.

6. Add tiny dabs of hot glue in spots where you want extra hold.

Hang your color-dyed wheat wreath on your mantel, door, or wall.

It brings the happiest pop of color to any fall space and I’m obsessed.
