DIY Yard Spiders

And let’s be honest, if a DIY requires a pool noodle and a few cardboard boxes, that’s basically an invitation to click “check out” on your Amazon cart.

A few tips for your spooky fun Halloween yard decorations

  1. Before you seal up your box spider body, throw in a couple of rocks or bricks to weigh down your furry friend.
  2. Spray a quick coat of sealant over your box body to keep it protected through the weather.
  3. I reinforced my spiders by sticking a stake through the box body of the spider and into the grass.

Pro tip: The bigger, the better with these large outdoor Halloween decorations; we want all the trick-or-treaters to see them.

Pool Noodle Halloween Yard Decorations

What you’ll need to make these super cute outdoor Halloween yard decorations:

How to make giant yard spiders

A few simple steps to make these homemade large outdoor Halloween decorations:

1. Cut your pool noodles

First, cut your pool noodle into two different sizes. The best way to measure is to hold your pool noodle in the area where you want it to sit.

2. Create the legs

Cut one side of the noodle at a slant. This way, when we put the noodles together, they bend nicely.

3. Assemble the legs

Use duct tape to hold your pool noodles together.

4. Prepare your spider body

Take small strips of duct tape and tightly wrap them around the pool noodle.

5. Add the face

Next, spray-paint the box, then attach these BIG googly eyes, a mouth, and legs with hot glue.

The cutest creepy-crawlers

These giant spiders are such a fun way to add a little Halloween personality to your outdoor decor without spending a fortune on oversized decorations.

I especially love that you can make them with simple materials you may already have around the house. The spiders end up cuter than truly scary and make a great DIY for families with kids.
