I learned the genius helium balloon party hack recently (because the internet is awesome!), and wanted to see if it would work with long balloons to go with the rainbow bows I made for our rainbow Saint Patrick’s Day party.
It worked! And I just love the fun ceiling balloon display it created.
Rainbow Party Balloon Ceiling
Filling the ceiling with a rainbow of balloons is always a great idea for any party. It adds a fun punch of color and the overhead balloons will make everyone smile.
Supplies:
I used this pack of colorful long rainbow balloons to create the look and this hand pump.
* Note: I normally much prefer my electric balloon blower, but for the long balloons I find hand pumping them is the easiest option.
The only other thing you need is a pack of glue dots to get the balloons up and onto the ceiling.
How to create the rainbow balloon ceiling:
Start by blowing up all your balloons. I did about 3-4 balloons of each rainbow color. Depending on the space you want to fill you might blow up more or less.
If you’re just going for a wild colorful ceiling hang these in any fun order. I was setting up for a rainbow party, so I put my balloons up in color order.
If you want to create a more dynamic display than just the balloons hanging straight down, you can carefully twist and roll the balloons once they are blown up. This creates squiggly balloons and a more organic shape to others.
Helium Balloon Hack
Now comes the fun part, getting your balloons up!
I used the trendy balloon hack to hang these which is just adding a glue dot to the top of each balloon and sticking on the ceiling.
Instead of floating the balloons, with a glue dot they just stick up all on their own.
So many ideas to use this fun party trick for in the future, but right now I am loving the colorful rainbow display hanging over our party table.
